  1. Exciting developments with your mat pulls. You may very well be on the way to no loss in reps, or even an increase, by the time you hit the floor. The first cycle tends to be incredibly beneficial for jump starting some gains. I put 50lbs on my 12RM this way in 7 weeks. Best of luck.

  2. I owe you a lot of thanks, after floundering around and making no progress for all of last year. 50 lbs is insane. I was thinking about making my first cycle jump 20 lbs for an even 5 plates next time, what do you think?

    1. Oh yeah, don't think that I meant I went from one cycle to increasing 50lbs on my next. It was more that I pulled a 12RM before I started a cycle of ROM progression, then started with 50lbs more than that at 7 mats up and managed to keep that for the whole cycle. Between the first and the second cycle, you can get away with a slightly bigger jump, so 20lbs would be acceptable. I think 25 is the absolute max I've used. After that, I tend to stick with 15lb jumps.

Saw the elitefts deadlift mats a while back. So pricey. So many cheap alternatives for a lot of gear if you go hardware shopping, haha.

  3. By the way, I notice EliteFTS has "deadlift mats" now for this very purpose, haha.
