Entry #214
The Academy was closed today...I didn't think it'd be closed for New
Year's. Or maybe it was something else. George was over but there was
no sparring. Did a push-up workout and some shadowboxing. Light stuff,
unfortunately. Hope to kick my ass at the gym with my new routine to
make up for it. Meals were inconsistent again.

Entry #213
Will be starting a new routine come Monday. Thanks go to Jared for clueing me in on it.
Making a habit of waking up earlier so I can fit another meal or two
in. Yeah, the time frame is the same since I'm going to bed earlier,
too, but I can't cook or use the blender late at night.
Muay thai lesson is tomorrow.

Entry #212
Decided to opt out of lifting because I'm just going to do it tomorrow
at the gym. Played the boxing minigame and the Virtua Fighter game for
Eyetoy on PS2, so I got some good shadowboxing in for today.

Entry #211
Forgot about Christmas Eve. Ruined my schedule. Obviously gym was
called off today, but surprisingly George wanted to hang out. Was
itching for a fight but I didn't want to challenge him on the holidays.
I'm getting soft. We played Serious Sam and goofed off, etc etc. All
that I accomplished for training today was some shadowboxing. The videogame was pretty funny, though. I didn't
eat particularly well, either.

Entry #210
A very reputable friend of mine recommends that I ditch the Kickboxing
Academy and join Cung Le's school. I'm split. On one hand, I trust his
judgement more than anyone else on the planet when it comes to martial
arts, but if I take his advice I won't be able to practice jiu jitsu,
anything on the ground, since Cung Le's is all striking.
Today was break day. Literally, break day. Helped my dad move some
furniture around, and I was able to destroy spare parts. I demolished
an entire wooden bed frame with my fists. My hands are sore, but I can
grip fine, so gym is still on for tomorrow.

Entry #209
Back in the game. I'm redoing the Muscle and Fitness power program. I
never got to finish it due to an early back injury. Feels good doing
powerlifting stuff after fooling around on bodybuilding routines for a
while. Worked the heavy bag a few hours later. I can't help but notice
that I have absolutely no clue on what to do for footwork, but that
shouldn't be a problem. My muay thai lesson is Friday. Water intake was
very good today. Chugged a gallon in an hour at the gym.

Saturday, December 10, 2005

Entry #208
Beat my push-ups record. For future reference, I'm up to 53 push-ups
(compared to 40). I'm gaining weight so I wonder how long that will
last. Still haven't taken a muay thai course. I plan on destroying the
weights with a Westside Power program tomorrow. It's been too long.

Entry #207
Day 1 of Jiu-Jitsu training. Attended a free lesson. Warm-up was the
standard jog, jumping jacks, and push-up routine we all know from PE
classes. Kinda surprised there wasn't any stretching; maybe I should
take the initiative and do that next time before I leave for training.
The class seemed to have all age groups, but even the little girls were
working their asses off. Awesome. I was paired up with another beginner
my size and after having some drills demonstrated to us, we tried it
out on our own. Unfortunately my lack of BJJ knowledge limits me from
accurately describing in words what we did, but basically it was a
crossover to an armbar. Also practiced breaking through his guard with
a...hell, I'm not even going to try. I did a lot of watching, too.
I landed on my wrist at one point and I found myself unable to do
endurance training tonight. Feels like a one or two-day thing, though,
so I'm not worried. Just gotta be more careful. And the back of my head
feels like it got hit by a baseball bat from all the slamming. Forget the
skatepark, I need a helmet for this thing.  Next is a free muay
thai lesson, and then I'm in.

Tuesday, December 6, 2005

Entry #206
I decided to wait a day and go back tomorrow. The time I was planning
on today would be a boxing lesson. That'd kick ass, but I want to go
for a BJJ lesson since I've never done any ground training. Will update
later tonight after endurance training.

Entry #205
Paid another visit to the Kickboxing Academy. My free lesson starts
whenever. Gonna try to make it tomorrow and then continue regular lessons from
here on out. It includes both Muay Thai and BJJ. Not sure how to work
lifting in my schedule, but I'll find a way.
Haven't gotten much lifting done as of late. Today I relied on workout
1 from trainforstrength.com. Either my muscle endurance has gone down
or gaining weight makes a bigger difference than I thought, because I
wasn't able to do my max number of push-ups.

Entry #204
Just got back from checking out the Kickboxing Academy. Unfortunately,
it was closed. Should have payed more attention to the schedule. From
what I could see through the window it looked pretty sweet. The place was packed
with boxing rings and punching bags. I'm calling it a day, but I'll be
back tomorrow at an earlier time. Maybe I can even start my free lesson
tomorrow. It's also right across the street from a gym, so perhaps it would be more convenient to switch where I lift.

Entry #203
Anxious to hit the weights tomorrow. Took a week off and I'm
practically dying from boredom. Meal plan went decently today. Shoved
down three big Costco hotdogs for dinner. Only had four meals in all,
however. They were big, but I can do better. For today all I did was
run to the videostore and back. Cardio felt strong.
After looking it over it looks like I have an opportunity to take muay
thai and BJJ lessons simultaneously. Couple this with lifting and
school, and it looks like my days are numbered. NOT TO MENTION DBZ. I can only be thankful
I have 0 social life to lose, haha.

Entry #202
Worked the heavy bag after a set of push-ups to my max (didn't count,
but probably wasn't very high). The point of this was to maintain good
form under fatigue. I stopped after my technique started to suffer.
Only did this for the last round.
Still haven't visited the kickboxing place. Having no car is tough. Maybe I should just walk there.

Entry #201
Gym may have been closed for Thanksgiving, but I had an awesome all-day
training session today at my own place. Raised my heavy bag so I'd
always be hitting the hardest part on boxing drills. Shins are sore and
knuckles are bleeding. I did:
8 3-minute rounds of boxing drills. 60 seconds rest in between.
Food break, watched UFC videos.
5 3 minute rounds of muay thai drills. 60 seconds rest in between.
Food break, UFC videos.
Sprints to Los Gatos High School and back. Lost count of quantity.

Later that night, 3 sets of push-ups to failure. Didn't bother
counting. This day didn't really have any organized structure, so it
looks kind of random in writing.

Afterwards I stuffed my face and watched Dragonball Z. Some things never change.

Entry #200
Stocked up on $300 worth of food at Costco. Should last me a few days
haha. Was planning on checking out the kickboxing place today, but
shopping went well into the dojo's closed hours. I'll wait until
Friday, possibly the weekend. Not much to report on physical training
today.

Entry #199
Good gym day. Gained a pound. Benched 215 for 5 reps then 2 sets of 225
for 4 reps (needed help from spotter on the last repetition of 225).
Chugged an entire gallon of water, and finished off with a speed bag
session for a cool-down. That damn thing is so easy now. You can
literally master it in a few days
I was sitting down with my arms folded during gym, and when I stretched
my arms out my biceps had left imprints in my forearms from being
pressed into them. Yeah, that was the highlight of my day. Not really.

I made this for my signature in a messageboard when I was bored.

Entry #198
The scale says 195lbs. I think I look the same, but cool. Unsure of what weight I want to cut at. Gonna break 200 though.
Upgraded to 105lb dumbbells for chest press. Actually, today was
refreshing after taking it easy for a few days. Gym, striking practice,
UFC, studying -- this is what everyday needs to include. Some
skateboarding would be nice, too.
Found a cool little kickboxing place just 10 minutes from my house. And
by "little" I mean a place where UFC fighters Koscheck and Fitch
trained at. Definitely going to check it out this week.

Entry #197
Walked to GNC. Stocked up on three jugs of SERIOUS MASS weightgainer.
Gonna last me a while. My meal plan went horrible today, though. I need
a new alarm clock; waking up late messes me up.
I'll write more after gym tomorrow. Low on stuff to report today. Here's something to make up for it.

Friday, November 11, 2005

Entry #196
Woke up at 11:30. Hate sleeping in. Didn't eat enough today. I'll go to
GNC and pick up more weightgainer and casein to put the pounds back on.
Striking practice is going well, though. Working on keeping my hands up
during sidekicks. Recently noticed the tendency to drop my arms to
balance out when I kick.

Tuesday, November 8, 2005

Entry #195
Was out late doing bagwork. Legs haven't recovered from squats, despite
extensive stretching. Can barely walk down stairs (anyone who's been to
my house knows that this would be a problem). Meal plan hasn't been
consistent, but tomorrow's a new day. Hell, tonight's still a new
night. I should be eating, I'm out.

Sunday, November 6, 2005

Entry #194
No gym = no weigh in. Meal plan was inconsistent today. Damn. Got some
good striking practice in to make up for it. Need to shove the calories
down, though. Focused on putting more of my body into my shots. Also
raised my bag up a few so I could make contact with the bottom portion,
which is denser. Hitting the weights again tomorrow.

Saturday, November 5, 2005

Entry #193
Squats feel stronger than ever, despite a couple week
hiatus. Helped my sister out with the weights. Didn't affect training
intensity, though. If anything, it was harder because I didn't have an
opportunity to sit back down after a set and catch my breath since I
had to go over to her area and help her out. Water intake was below
par, though. Drank half a gallon rather than a full one.

It was a good day for UFC fans today. Ultimate Fighter finales were badass. That reminds me, weigh in is tomorrow.

Friday, November 4, 2005

Entry #192
Took a few days off from the weights. It sucked. I'm back, though. Lost
a pound; didn't seem to lose any strength, fortunately. Need to be more
careful about not slacking off on eating during my off-days (I must
have said this about fifty times now).

Forgot to take Friday off since the throwdown is tomorrow. Doesn't look
like I'm gonna be able to make it either way. There'll be other ones.

Entry #191
Tag for later. Will update with Halloween stuff.

UPDATE: I don't know why I made an entry, actually. Halloween was
nothing compared to the gorefest that was last year. Seriously, read
last year's entry. George and I went romping through the neighborhood,
fought in costume at the park, went to a party, scolded the children (who were older than us) about
drinking and smoking, punched through a wall (it was old, the guy said go ahead), and then threw away our
candy to eat nutritious and wholesome beef jerky.
This year: I went to the gym. Not bad on its own right, but I expect next year to be better.

Entry #190
Attended the capoeira demo. Yeah, that's what it turned out to be -- a
demonstration. Didn't actually get to do anything myself. Nevertheless,
it was a cool watch. It was like part dancing, part martial arts. Sorry
to say there wasn't any sparring. But I talked to the head guy, and it
turns out they're gonna
start having free lessons at the gym once a month; I'm looking forward
to it.

Crappy picture of the capo done in the studio. It was off my cell, and it was set
to the smallest possible picture size, unfortunately. Gotta
remember to fix that next time I take a picture. You really can't see
anything, but I'll post it anyways. It's two guys doing forms with one
another to a drum in the background. Rest of the team is waiting their
turn.

Entry #189
Just got word of a free Capoeira class at the gym tomorrow. Definitely
gonna check it out; there's gonna be sparring according to the paper.

Speaking of the gym, I managed 325 lbs for 5 reps on deadlifts. My
water intake has been through the roof, as well. Chugged an entire
gallon jug in an hour and a half while I was there.

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

Entry #188
Never got to train with Mike (the wrestler). On the other hand I might
get to meet up with George for some Halloween sparring. Debts will be
paid. After we kill each other, maybe he'll be able to go to the
throwdown (November 6). Kind of a long drive, but it should be worth it.

Was able to put up 215 lbs for 5 reps on bench press, no spotter. Still
have not settled on an organized strength program, however.

Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Entry #187
Today was unorthodox and very bodybuilderish. I underestimated my
ability and found myself able to complete 8 reps of a weight I was only
supposed to do 5 in. I'll be more organized once I settle on a proper
strength program. Already have a number of good options to choose from.

Crushed my fingers with a 105lb dumbbell, but it seems to be alright
now. It was bleeding everywhere over there, though. To anyone who goes
to Pinnacle gym: I cleaned up after myself.

Monday, October 17, 2005

Entry #186
Deadlifted 315lbs for 5 reps. Felt strong, maybe could have done more,
but I want to be safe going into a weight I've never done before. Back
injuries are the worst. Deadlift seems to be my best lift since I seem
to adapt to new weight relatively fast compared to bench and squat. I
expect to break 400lbs in no time.

Getting more sleep time in. Hell, I gotta go bed right now.

Entry #185
Just did stretches. No report for today. I watched the Olympia on pay per view, so here's what I thought of it:

"I actually payed $30 for it on pay per view. It sucked. It was
unorganized as hell, microphones weren't working, judges pressed wrong
buttons during scoring, bodybuilders posed against the wrong guy, and
Jay Cutler was being a gigantic crybaby for not winning against Ronnie.
I mean, I could understand disappointment, but damn. This is how the
interview went:

Interviewer: "Jay, what are your feelings on Ronnie winning?"

Jay: "Unbelievable. This is a joke. It's unbelievable."

Interviewer: "Well, I know we'll see more of you next year, better than ever!"

Jay: "I don't know. I want to go home. I just don't feel like doing anything."

Interviewer: "Uh, but surely your fans and everything from tonight inspires you to train harder for next year, right?"

Jay: "No. Tonight was supposed to be it. Just because he's Mr. Olympia, they gave him first place again."

On
and on like that. And then Gene Rychlak attempted to break the world
record for bench press at 1,015 lbs. The bar fell on his chest after
lift-off. The announcer asked "So is Gene gonna try that again?" Triple
H said "Uh, no, he's not in bench-press mode right now because he just
had 1,015 lbs crush his spleen."

All in all, it was a disaster.
During all the interviews the bodybuilders had jack to say, too. "So
Jay, how do you think you did on your performance out there?" "I don't
know." The interviewer is waiting for him to say some more, and the
entire thing was awkward like this. They had some Ultimate Fighting at
the beginning, so I thought I would be treated to some martial arts
afterwards, but no."

Entry #184
No response yet from the wrestler. We'll see what happens. Any world
champion Jiu-Jitsu fighter wanna take his place in the meantime for
some sparring?

Pumped out 205lbs on bench press for 6 reps. Could have gone more on my
first set, but I don't go to failure that early. I'll rep out 215 lbs
next time. I'm not sure whether an improvement like this would be
because of the creatine, or the dumbbell sub I've been doing. I'll keep
up this cycle of couple weeks of dumbbell press and one week of bench
press, and see if the numbers rise. I guess experimenting with my own
method is worth a shot before I opt for another pre-made program, since
it seems to be working.

Wednesday, October 12, 2005

Entry #183
Making plans to meet up with a champion varsity wrestler to go over
some groundfighting before the November throwdown. Problem is he has an
injured knee and can't bend it at all. He says he can get the job done,
though. I'll take anything I can get. I should be a more well-rounded
fighter this time.

Tuesday, October 11, 2005

Entry #182
Have been taking a few days off from the gym to freshen up, and search
for a new routine. I'm looking to add some Olympic lifts for more
power. There's an upcoming throwdown on November 6. To
train accordingly I will be doing more cardio on my off-days. Taking in
larger weight-gainer servings to compensate for this so I can continue
to put on weight. I'm recruitting sparring partners through online means to help train for the throwdown,

Saturday, October 8, 2005

Entry #181
Deadlifts are back on track. Was able to go heavy with no problem. I'm
hoping I can start cutting soon. Gaining weight fast, but no noticeable
fat. Should be just a matter of time. Anxious to start cardio sessions,
get my endurance back up, and go longer in sparring matches.

Friday, October 7, 2005

Entry #180
Upgraded a lot of weights. Also saw Ryan for the first time in a while
at the gym. Bastard didn't show up when I bought him the Jamba Juice
last time. It's a long story. He didn't punch me today or anything, but
he yelled at me and told me to work harder. They should install a Ryan
at every gym.

Need to do more martial arts practice, though.

Tuesday, October 4, 2005

Entry #179
Begin loading phase. Water intake has increased by a lot. To be
truthful this is the amount I should be drinking even without creatine.
Felt strong in squats today. Didn't need a spotter for any set.
Tomorrow I expect to get a lot of striking drills in (break day from
lifting).

Monday, October 3, 2005

Entry #178
I'm actually making decent strength gains off the bodybuilding routine
I've been doing. Maybe it's a change my muscles needed to break
stagnation. More likely it's just a result of consistency in my meal
plan. It's been going strong for several weeks now, and consequently
I'm getting close to 190. Will post bulk pictures up soon. Today I went
heavier on several different exercises while increasing the number of
reps at the same time. Few weeks ago I was doing lesser work to failure. Looks I can go heavier on a lot next week. Maybe
I should save starting on creatine for when I'm stuck in a plateau or
something? Oh well, I'll try it out tomorrow. Wanted to take an extra
day to read up on the stuff.

Felt sore during shadow boxing. Combinations felt impossible. Good stretching work I've been doing, though.

Sunday, October 2, 2005

Entry #177
Quick entry before bed. Internet's been down all day, and now it just decides to get back up.
Break day from lifting. Just did martial art forms along with
stretching. Also picked up creatine monohydrate to add to my supplement
list. Will start 5 day loading phase tomorrow, and see how this stuff
works.

Saturday, October 1, 2005

Entry #176
Stacked 315 lbs on the bar for deadlifts before I had to stop at just 2 reps. Notes:

> These were standard deadlifts rather than box ones, which I always
do. I figured they would be easier since they don't go as deep, but it
was actually much harder. Muscles are under constant pressure, rather
than getting a break at the bottom the way a platform allows.

> First time doing this lift in more than a month due to strained back.

> Heaviest I've ever done and I'm trying to raise the weight too fast.

> Concentrated on keeping arched back and driving up with my legs (this was a problem for me before).

Had to settle for 275 lbs at 7 reps. This got significantly easier the
more I did it. I suspect the strength is there, I just need to get used
to the form. Definitely ditching the box next time, unless I want to do
stiff-legged ones on leg day to work hamstrings.

Worked the heavy bag, but was having trouble generating decent power in
my strikes. My arms are gassed out. Moved on to kicks instead.
Sometimes I have trouble deciding whether I should push past fatigue
and continue boxing drills, or to stop so I don't practice bad form. I
guess it depends on the situation and to whether or not I can maintain
it. I don't think I've picked up bad habits, though. I've learned to
throw a punch from friends with martial art backgrounds, and through sparring, but my foot-work is pretty
sloppy, as mentioned earlier. Then again I've never payed attention to
it, so the least I can say is I won't have to unlearn anything when I
take classes.

Friday, September 30, 2005

Entry #175
Upgraded to the 85 lb dummbells for 8 reps of dumbbell press.
Definitely gonna go for the 90s next time. It'll be interesting to see
how this affects my bench press. Meal plan is staying strong, but I
think I can go for larger meals for dinner.
Practiced more shadow boxing along with some tae kwon do kicks. I need
to learn decent footwork during my striking game. Some official lessons
should help me out in this area. They can't come soon enough.

Thursday, September 29, 2005

Entry #174
Got some decent practice with more shadow boxing and kicking. It was
good exercise for sore leg muscles. Performed flexibility stretches
both prior to and after training. Food plan is still going good, but
it's taking me too damn long to chug the weightgainer.

Hitting the weights tomorrow, and starting creatine over the weekend.
Should be nothing but improvement from here. Hopefully I can start
cutting somewhere soon down the road.

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

Entry #173
Meal plan is staying consistent. Today was flexibility stretches along
with shadow boxing rounds. Also went to GNC to pick up more
weightgainer and whey. Saturday I'll be starting creatine. Expecting to
break 190 in the coming month.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

Entry #172
Decided to skip the squats. On the plus side, starting fresh on leg
press meant 8 plates on each side for 10 reps. Total of 16 plates = 720
lbs plus the machine weight. I could go for 9 next time, but the thing
can't hold any more than that.

Been doing a lot of bodybuilding stuff. I think my back is good to go
to re-start the powerlifting routine on Friday. Or perhaps construct a
different one altogether.

George is off to LA, so it looks like I won't be getting much sparring
done between now and January. Least I can do is keep up the heavy-bag
drills and attend as many throwdowns as I can in the meantime.

Monday, September 26, 2005

Entry #171
Gain of two pounds. 182 with just shorts and socks on.

Back is feeling great. Think I'm gonna risk doing squats tomorrow. If
all systems are clear after that, I can do deadlifts next week.

Using dumbbells is a great way to build up bar exercises. Today I tried
barbell military press and did 8 easy reps at 135 lbs. And that was at
the very end of the training session today. The last time I tried that
I could barely do 95 lbs for 6 reps, starting fresh. I eventually
ditched the exercise all together and opted for dumbbell shoulder
presses instead. Apparently they're working. Am thinking of
substituting dumbbell press instead of bench press from now on, and
observe how much my bench number increases.

Been keeping up with my stretches. The one thing is martial arts
practice, or lack thereof. I need to find more time to do longer
striking sessions. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'm going to a
dojo until I can get my own mode of transportation (parents don't want
to give me a ride since they already drive me to the gym, and they
don't trust me using their car by myself). Going back to school in
January so I need to get my act together before then.

Friday, September 23, 2005

Entry #170
Have to cut my strength program short. I'm laying off the squats and
deadlifts for the sake of my back. Granted, it's feeling perfect now,
but that's what I thought last time I injured it. Gonna play it safe
and give it time to recover from that strain. A long-term injury is the
last thing I want. Well, except for cancer or something. But besides
that.

Dumbbell bench press (warm-up): 3 sets; 10, 6, 3 reps (25 lb, 35 lb, 45 lb dumbbells)
Dumbbell bench press: 4 sets; 8, 6, 6, 6 reps(70 lb, 80 lb, 80 lb, 80 lb dumbbells)
Dumbbell flys: 4 sets; 8 reps (45 lb dumbbells)
Incline bench press: 4 sets; 5 reps (145 lbs -- was fatigued)
Dips: 3 sets; 10 reps (bodyweight)
Skull-crushers: 3 sets; 8 reps (30 lb dumbbells)
Cable extension: 4 sets; 8 reps (60 lbs)
Weighted crunches: 5 sets; 20, 15, 15, 12, 12 reps (two 25 lb plates on chest)
Reverse crunches: 3 sets; 12 reps
Speed-bag practice for cooldown. This guy was impressed and wanted me
to show him how to use the speedbag. I had it down in three days --
what a useless exercise. But good for cardio.

Entry #169
Gonna get more serious with bulking. I'm gaining weight too slowly.
It's been well over a year. Packed on 20 lbs of muscle with no visible
fat. But I need to make more progress. And my endurance is crap right
now because I've been doing minimal cardio by bulking for so long.

Changing my post-workout shake from weightgainer to something more
specific. Ordered dextrose and maltodextrin which arrived yesterday.
Gonna save the weightgainer for the morning and to eat with dinner.

Monday, September 19, 2005

Entry #168
Back is much better. Gonna have to take a break from doing hardcore
pulling exercises, as much as I hate to admit it. Went on another hike
with George today. Couple that with the squat workout from Saturday,
and my legs are going through hell. Just the way I like it.

As of today it's been a year since I've created this training log. I've changed a lot in just one year. To make a comparison:

Taken from Log Entry #1, September 19, 2004:
AGE: 17
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 159 LBS
BENCH MAX: 200LBS
SQUAT MAX: 250LBS
DEADLIFT MAX: 210LBS
PUSH-UP MAX: 30
CRUNCH MAX: 115

One year later, September 19, 2005:
AGE: 18
HEIGHT: 6'0"
WEIGHT: 180LBS
BENCH MAX: 250LBS
SQUAT MAX: 310LBS
DEADLIFT MAX: 340LBS
PUSH-UP MAX: 41 (still pathetic)
CRUNCH MAX: 115 (haven't tried it, who cares?)

I've made significant changes in my lifts, but obviously haven't
concentrated as much on endurance training with push-ups and such.

Bad back...can't move...hurts to exist...but pain is just weakness leaving the body.

Is this the end for l3loodfist? Find out on the next episode of Dragonball Z.

Entry #166
Hit the weights today. Did bench press at 195 lbs for six reps. Am
anxious to raise the weight, but I have to stick to the routine for
now. My ego wants to go back up to 225 lbs for 2-3 reps.  My lip
started bleeding and running down my face because I was biting it again
during the heavy parts. Seems like it's a habit.

I'm 184 lbs with clothes. I attribute this to my pre-bedtime meal. I take this right before bed.
1 bagel slice for carbohydrates
2 1/2 scoops of casein protein powder with 20 oz of milk
3 spoons of flax-seed oil

It tastes disgusting, by the way.

Made sure I took the time to do stretches. I'm getting closer to the
ground with the splits. Also practiced some martial art forms for
further flexibility exercise.

Entry #165
Rough day today. I still wasn't over my back pain, which I've had since
Thursday along with my sore legs. It was a lot better today compared to
Monday, so I figured I was good to go. Was all hyped up for a tough
deadlift day. Set the weights with 315 lbs on the bar, and as I was
pulling it up for the lift, I felt a sharp pain in my left m. teres
muscle (upper back). I realized I had better not let my ego cause me a
permanent back injury. Took off a plate on each end, which made it 225
lbs. I did 4 repetitions before I felt the pain again, and by then I
decided I was done. An injury will just set me back and won't allow me
to train. I'm all for being tough and macho, but in this case, better
safe than sorry, as much as I hated to admit it.

I just did bicep curls today, along with wrist curls. Lots of bodybuilding stuff.

Entry #164
Went on a short hike with George, up to Lexington and back. My legs
were killing me, especially on a decline slope. I was grunting in pain
with every step on the way down, and George goes "What's the matter,
wimp. you can't handle a little walk?" I told him when my muscles heal
I would kick his ass. What a bastard.

I shouldn't have lost any weight, though. I've been eating very well.

Entry #163
I...can't...walk...at all... I went to the gym just to sit in the
steam-room. Helped out my muscles, but I still hobble around like an
old man. I took the opportunity to check the scale, too. Weighed in at
181 lbs with just swimshorts. That's an increase from last time. Have
to keep this up.

Did flexibility stuff today (stretches, light kicks) and watched
Dragonball Z. I need to get better before Monday, which is deadlift
day. I'm thinking of taking Rene's offer on that massage parlor right
about now. Nahh. I'm gonna go do push-ups instead.

Entry #162
Was unable to update last night due to internet problems. Here's how training went:

Warm-up squats: 3 sets; 10, 6, 3 reps (45 lbs, 135 lbs, 185 lbs)
Squats: 3 sets; 6 reps (245 lbs)
Narrow-stance squats: 2 sets; 8 reps (155 lbs - muscles hurt at this point)
Wide-stance squats: 2 sets; 8 reps (155 lbs)
Heavy machine gun...I mean, heavy leg curls: 4 sets; 8 reps (120 lbs)
Leg press: 3 sets; 12 reps (500 lbs)
Light leg curls: 2 sets; 10 reps (90 lbs)
Standing calf-raises: 2 sets; 10 reps (320 lbs)
Seated calf-raises: 2 sets; 12 reps (185 lbs)

For squats I usually use a cushion on the bar so it's more comfortable
on my shoulders. My spotter, Ryan, told me to I have to "Get serious
and quit using the tampon for your shoulders." From now on I'm just
using the bar itself. It's better because the cushion caused the bar to
be too high over my shoulders. But now my shoulders are scratched up
and bleeding. A fair trade-off, I say.

Today I couldn't really walk. I hung out with George but I kept up my
diet of eating as much as humanly possible. We played Contra. It counts as training. It's
mental training.

Entry #161
Down to 177 lbs. No doubt a result from the run with George. I need to train harder than this.

Bench press day went good. Tomorrow should be better.

Intestingly enough, I might work at GNC soon.

Entry #160
Went on a run with George today. I'll have to eat back lost calories because of that -- hope it won't cost me too much.

Running is all about the proper mindset. As my shoes
thudded against the pavement and my muscles screamed at me to stop with
every step, I instead pictured my body as a machine, capable of
nothing but charging onward. My partner, and the competition he
provided, was my enemy, and my mission was to win by continuing at
all costs. I was invincible.

Entry #159
Weighed in at 180. Gain of 2 lbs. I don't think it's fat. But it's
surprising because my diet has not been going very well the past few
days.

Started new routine today. Benched 195 for 6 reps, no spotter. I
wasn't making good gains doing 225lbs for 2 -3 reps. After I finish the
8-week program I'm going to start the harder one. That one is insane,
let me tell you. I've never had to train for a training routine, but
this is definitely it haha. Can't wait.

Entry #158
Ran to the high school yesterday and did Workout 1 on
trainforstrength.com, then ran back. Pyramiding push-ups are harder
than expected. Gonna keep this up once a week.

Starting the new routine tomorrow. I think I lost more weight -
hopefully it's not too bad. I really need to try harder with eating. I
can train like an animal no problem, it's eating that is by far the
most mundane part of this.

Entry #157
Not much training accomplished since Monday, but I've been doing much
studying. Revamped my entire routine. In addition to two new
powerlifting programs, I'm using a proper endurance plan to use on my
off days. The first powerlifting program is from a Muscle and Fitness
issue. I've read it over and it sounds like a solid strength routine.
After 8 weeks of this, I'm going to be switching to something far more
advanced. This second one has some insane techniques in it. I actually
think I need to train more just to be able to do it haha. I'll post
both of them soon, along with my endurance training.

Diet was good for a few days, but then motivation gradually dropped.
Right now I'm eating a huge dinner consisting of three different kinds
of beef, and I plan on going to bed earlier so I can wake up and eat a
bigger breakfast. So, I'm getting back on track. I lost a lot of weight
'cuz of slacking off. I might be down to 175 now actually. I'll make it
up.

Entry #156
Just did backyard training today. My chest is so sore that I couldn't
punch properly. Good sign, I say. Did kicking drills on the heavy bag.

Possible throwdown next month. I expect to see you there.

Monday, August 22, 2005

Entry #155
Argh I'm back to 178 lbs. Lost 5 lbs in a week. Ridiculous. Cannot
afford anymore of this. Need to be more careful with my eating and
not slack off anymore.

I definitely felt it in the gym because I wasn't able to do as many
reps today for a lot of my lifts. For example, last time on military
press I busted out 6 deep reps. Today I had trouble doing 3.
Frustrating as hell to see the numbers drop on both the scale and the
iron, but if anything this just motivates me to try harder. And oh
yeah, not to be a pussy with training, haha.

Damn weights may have won the battle but the war isn't over yet.
I'll get those bastards next time. (Shakes fist at the dumbbells) Boom
goes the dynamite.

Entry #154
Just did shadow-boxing today, along with stretches for flexibility. I
have a weird tendency to hold in when I jab; my arm doesn't fully
extend all the way. Have to work on breaking that habit. Hitting the
gym tomorrow with some refinements in my routine. Gonna try my hand at
some Olympic lifts for more explosive power.

Was a good weekend for UFC. Horn vs Liddell:

Entry #153
Training was satisfactory, except for perhaps the essential factor: no
lifting today. Not to say that weightlifting is more
important than skill and technique refinement in regards to martial
arts training, but it sure as hell is the most addicting part of it.
Still constructing a new powerlifting routine which I should start on
Monday if everything goes accordingly.

As my arm muscles have gotten more developed my flexibity has
decreased. Noticed this during several stretches. Will make a habit of
stretching from now on after weightlifting sessions to lengthen the
contracting muscle fibers.

Note to self: get strong and huge and freaky as hell. Sounds like a plan.

Entry #152
I was lying in my bed, relaxing and playing some videogames, when all
of a sudden I had a revelation. I realized that I need to get much much
stronger. Seriously. We'll see how that works out.

Looking forward to returning to the weight room tomorrow. Currently not much to report about in terms of training.

Entry #151
Ordered dextrose and maltodextrin from a site to go with my
post-workout shake. I've decided to get a lot more exact with my
nutrition.

Taking a few days off from the weights to put together a new
routine. Contemplating on adding in Olympic lifts, such as power
cleans, for more power.

Flexibility is improving. I'm getting closer to doing full front-splits.

Like Arnold said. "Let's get serious now."

Entry #150
Diet has not been satisfactory the past few days. It seems I slack off
on my off-days. Feels like I'm not motivated on days when I don't lift.
It's like perfectionism to the extreme. On lifting days I do everything
exactly right, seven meals a day, proper nutrition before bed,
everything. The rest of the time I just eat whenever. Have to make sure
I'm on top of my meal plan seven days a week; can't afford any
catabolism.

Some extra pictures from the throwdown that were sent my way today:

George sparring with me filming in the background

Me groundfighting.

Team Bullshido. I'm second to the left, top row. I look short 'cuz the guy next to me is like 6'5.

Entry #149
I'm amazed. In my own time I thought I'd been doing the most intense
training, but some of the fighters I threw hands with were on a whole
different level. I have to learn to control my body like that. I'm
doing great with strength training. I don't even think they were
physically stronger than me. However, their technique was strides over
mine. I'm going to continue getting stronger, but I definitely
have more work to do.

Videos (I'm in the blue sleeveless shirt):

http://media.putfile.com/BullshidoMcTD_8_05 Highlight video. I'm seen walking across the mat at one point, and at the end where I'm sparring George.

http://media.putfile.com/2256 I'm
not a ground-fighter, but I tried anyways...I did alright at the
beginning. I mounted him but was a little hesitant to attack him from
that position; it was a light sparring match, so I was wondering how
hard my punches should be. He returned the favor at the end. Was a good
experience nonetheless. I kept trying to get him in stand-up but he
insisted on tackling me and taking me to the ground.

http://media.putfile.com/LancevsGeorge Not
that great, this was the last fight and I was pretty tired. No
headshots allowed either, because we didn't have headgear for that
round. Though now that I watch it, that bastard got me in the head
a bunch of times haha. I'm only putting this up so everyone can see me
getting kicked in the back of the head, courtesy of George.

Disappointed with a lot, but it really just makes me more
excited to get stronger and better. I like the challenge. (Arnold
voice) I'll be back.

Entry #148
Throwdown was awesome. Why can't high school kids have parties like
THAT? I got kicked in the head twice. Good way to end the day. But
I apologize for any lack of coherent sentence structure; as a result of
the blows I'm slowly losing consciousness as I type this. Arteriovenous
malformations forming in brain cavity, acute kidney failure, sudden
drowsiness, vile after-taste in back of the mouth...yes, I am dying.
Heart-rate is now deaccelerating to bare minimum. Well I sure
as hell am gonna finish updating before I die.

Am waiting for opportunities for hosting sparring videos up. Until then here are some blurry photos.

Me outside, wondering why George is taking my picture instead of fighting.

George being George, right before his match. Never a good thing.

George and some dancing guy. Just kidding, that was a good, fast-paced match.

Me versus George. Ditched the headgear.

The videos will be a lot cooler. I have to mention my best friend
Chelsea. And Chris. They sent me ninja swords. Everyone, write
this down and take notes.

 I owe you Chelsea.

Entry #147
Today was the last lifting session before the throwdown on Sunday. The
plan is to take it easy tomorrow and Saturday. Relaxing is going to
suck, but I'll do the best I can.

Today, I did deadlifts at 295 lbs for 6 reps. Was pretty tough.
We'll go for 315 lbs next time. I was going insane. I was talking to
the weights and insulting them, and then laughing. Trust me, it works.

"My workouts finished after seven, so I would ride my bike home
after every training session. Because my arms would be so numb from the
training, I often couldn't control the bike, and I'd fall into a
wayside ditch.
It was a fantastic feeling, lying in the ditch with my arms aching." -Arnold Schwarzenegger

Entry #146
DEATH Chest Day (haha, © by Bradley - the man is a genius)

Bench press: 5 sets; 12, 10, 2, 2, 2 reps (135 lbs, 155 lbs warm-up, 225 lbs last 3 reps)
Doesn't
sound like much, but I did it without a spotter. It's kinda weird - the
first rep is getting easier and easier, but the second stays the same,
and nothing beyond that.

Plus the other ones that don't really matter in a powerlifting routine.

This was the most painful training I've ever done. My lip
started bleeding because I was biting it so hard. I couldn't raise my
arms afterwards to wash my face.

It's the times like these, when you keep pushing your body, and
you keep lifting while ignoring the pain, and ignoring your muscles
when they're screaming at you to stop...those are the good times,
friends. Let us cherish these moments. Like the monkey in the pinata,
hiding amongst the candy, waiting for the kids.

The training session also left me insane.

Tore open the skin on my knuckles doing heavy-bag training. Was on my
knees trying to keep my dinner down 'cuz I ate too much. Can barely
walk from doing squats yesterday.

All in all, a terrific day.

Entry #144
I lost 2 lbs. Weighing in at 181 lbs now. Damn. Gonna have to maintain my diet better. Eat eat eat more more more.

Did squats at 275 lbs for 3 reps. Got in an argument with this guy
who was watching me. He told me I should be using a belt when I go that
heavy. I think belts are crutches that should only be used during
competition. If you're going so heavy that you need a belt to maintain
proper form, then it's too heavy for you. He told me I wouldn't be
saying that once I got a hernia, but as long as I do the exercise
right, I'll be fine.

I also bought the Pumping Iron DVD. It's good. I have to say I like
World's Strongest Man competitions better than bodybuilding shows,
though.

My powerlifting routine is almost over. I got good gains off it,
considering I was doing squats at 185 lbs at the start of it. After the
thowdown I'm doing something different. Speaking of the throwdown, it's
in a week.

Entry #143
Ultimate Fight Night got me really pumped up. You better have watched
it tonight. It's 1:30 in the morning and I just want to fight. Hmm,
come to think of it, that's how it is for every night! Haha oh well. I
think it got me even more hyper than Dragonball Z does. They didn't
show Dragonball Z tonight, though...if they did, I would be punching
through the walls probably.

I'm taking a new approach to endurance training. Gonna start at a
low 25 reps for the first week, and increase that by 1 every
consecutive week. The idea is to allow my body to gradually adjust to
the numbers rather than training 'till failure everytime. My current
max is 40 push-ups, by the way. So you can see right there why I'm
trying to improve that.

Gonna resume powerlifting tomorrow.

Thursday, August 4, 2005

Entry #142
I've been taking a couple-day hiatus from lifting due to extreme muscle
fatigue. It felt like my body was being torn apart. After a couple days
of recuperation, however, I feel even stronger than before. Haha I
think I watched too much Dragonball Z the past few days.

Throwdown is coming up on the 14th (not 16th). I'm eager to see how
much the powerlifting routine has helped. Will post results and
pictures accordingly.

Entry #141
Benched 225 lbs for four reps. Needed a little help from the
spotter on the last two reps. But I'm improving. A few weeks ago I was
only doing it for one rep.

Sunday, July 31, 2005

Entry #140
Did squats at 265 lbs today. Gonna go for 275 lbs and stick with that
for a little next time, until I'm stronger. My spotter commented that I
went really deep. I've been going down as far as possible.

Meals have been going very well the past few weeks. Haven't slacked off at all.

Check out Alex Fedorov. He trains in a cemetary in Russia. His
comment on Gold's Gym: "Everyone flexes, but nobody lifts." His article
was awesome. Wow, now my profile picture looks puny with this guy on
here. Haha, cool.

Entry #139J
ust did endurance training today with push-ups. Also practiced
thai kicks on the heavy bag. Gonna work on these for the August
16th throwdown.

I'm changing my schedule to go bed earlier. I need more sleep to
keep down cortisol levels. Buddies on AIM, go to bed already.
Cortisol will break down muscle tissue and lower testosterone
levels. Cortisol is like the girly-man chemical, as Arnold
would probably put
it.

Thursday, July 28, 2005

Entry #138
Did deadlifts at 275 lbs today for 7 reps. It really didn't feel any
different than 245 lbs (the highest I've been doing prior to today). No
doubt it's due to all the Dragonball Z I watched the night before. I
think I'm going to raise it to 300+ lbs next time.

Tuesday, July 26, 2005

Entry #137
Benched 225 lbs for 3 reps. Ryan (my spotter) did 350 lbs. I'll get him soon.

Also got a pair of 12 oz. boxing gloves. George and I can practice headshots now with these.

Entry #136
Weighed in at 184 lbs. No fat gain.

Squats: 5 sets; 12, 10, 5, 5, 5 reps (135 lbs warm-up, 185 lbs
warm-up, 255 lbs last 3 sets) Concentrated on going down as far as
possible.

Leg press: 4 sets; 12, 8, 8, 6 reps (400 lbs warm-up, 610 lbs last three sets)

Wide-stance smith squat: 3 sets; 8, 8, 6 reps (225 lbs)

Leg extension: 4 sets; 8 reps (195 lbs)

Lying leg curl: 4 sets; 8 reps (120 lbs)

I've been doing calves on a seperate day from the rest of my legs in
order to devote better attention to them. They were still sore today
from Friday, but luckily it doesn't affect squat performance.

This was kinda funny, I was arguing with my cousin afterwards while
we were at the park having a barbeque with some other relatives. He
seemed insulted when I refused his offer to have a beer. He asked why,
it's just something to enjoy, and I told him it's nothing but junk.
"All this boy cares about is his nutrients..." he muttered. Funny
guy.

Entry #135
Did endurance training at the high school.

Chin-ups: 4 sets; 17, 10, 8, 8 reps

Biceps were sore from deadlift day. Might have been able to do more than 17 if I was at full strength.

Entry #134
Light chest day from the powerlifting routine with abs and calves afterwards:

Weighted crunches: 5 sets; 25, 20, 15, 12, 12 reps (2 25 lb plates on chest)

Reverse crunches: 4 sets; 12 reps

Standing calf raises: 5 sets; 15, 12, 10, 10, 10 reps (150 lbs, 210 lbs warm-up sets, 320 lbs last three sets)

Seated calf raises: 3 sets; 15, 15, 12, 12 reps (185 lbs)

Lying calf raises: 3 sets; 15 reps (400 lbs)

Also note-worthy: benching 185 lbs on light chest day now. Seems
like yesterday that I could barely bench this. Now it's used on
the light day of my program.

I was doing weighted crunches in the ab room when one of the
raquetball-player guys came in and started rolling on one of the
balls. I knew this was trouble. The guys at my gym are like sharks in a
feeding frenzy -- when one of them appears, the vibrations they
create attracts other nearby creatures. Sure enough, the room was
soon filled with old people rolling on balls. Two of them were blocking
the exit. I was surrounded, but luckily managed to escape without
conflict.

Entry #133
Deadlifts up to 245 lbs. Wanted to go more but I've never gone this high. I'll raise it slowly but surely.

Also weighed in at 181 lbs. Gained 2 lbs, none is fat.

There's a throwdown coming up on August 16 in Berkeley. George and I
will be fighting in it. George isn't having much training time
right now, but the trade-off is he's a counselor at summer camp yelling
(in Russian) at little kids. Hehe he reads them military books.

Entry #132
Benched at 225lbs for 3 reps without the aid of a spotter. He had to
help me on the fourth one, but that's 1 more than last time. Really
concentrating on using more explosive power.

I'm also thankful for the time when my spotter, Ryan,
clued me in and made me lower the bar all the way down to my chest. Up
until a few months ago I was stopping about an inch off. Yeah, he told
me by slamming the bar back down on me when I was in the middle of a
rep, but it's nice he's looking out for me. I think he just
wants me to get stronger so I don't bounce off his back all the time
when we play basketball.

Endurance training: managed only 35 push-ups on the first set. No
doubt a result of a heavy chest day. My arms felt shaky from rep 1.

Also, I am sick of fish.

Entry #131
Trained at the beach today. I punched and kicked the waves.

I'm a monkey trying to do muay thai.

Entry #130
The tae kwon do testing wasn't that great. Turns out it wasn't even the
testing. As the instructor said, it was just a "graduation". Fun to
watch, but not worth describing.

Endurance training at the high school field with George today. I managed 16 pull-ups.

I need to go to GNC to get something different than N-Large for a post-workout shake. N-Large doesn't have dextrose in it.
List:
100% pure whey protein isolate (not concentrate).
Pure dextrose
Maltodextrin

Haven't been eating enough the past few days.

Entry #129
My friend and I traded videos of us shadow-boxing so we could compare
techniques. I never realized how stiff and poor my stance is. Blame it
on being self-taught. My punches were fast and hard, but I still need
to work on more fluid combinations. I also need to work on faster
kicks. Before I kick I instinctively prepare by switching into a tae
kwon do stance. The attack can be seen coming a mile away. I need
to work on snapping a decent kick from a better stance.

I also figured while I was filming I might as well take a picture:

Entry #128
Raised the weight on several sets for squat day today.

Squats: 5 sets; 12, 10, 5, 5, 5 reps (135 lbs warm-up, 155 lbs warm-up, 245 lbs, 245 lbs, 255 lbs)

Leg Press: 4 sets; 12, 8, 8, 8 reps (400 lbs warm-up, 620 lbs remaining sets)

Wide-stance smith machine squats: 3 sets; 5 reps (225 lbs)

Leg extension: 4 sets; 8 reps (195 lbs)

Lying leg curls: 4 sets; 8 reps (120 lbs)

Flexibility stretches at home. I got much closer to the ground
in practicing splits. Heavy bag practice afterwards.. I was kind of
dizzy and my legs were feeling shaky, so I worked on conditioning my
shins and knuckles rather than practice bad form by doing
several poor rounds on it.

George invited me to come to his testing for his 3rd
degree black-belt in tae kwon do, Friday night. Gonna check it out and
perhaps post pictures of it. His tae kwon do school is
awesome. Last black-belt testing he had to spar his teacher
and two other instructors all at the same time, full contact, 3
against one. That was after the 500 push-ups they had to do in the rain
while they were waiting for their bus. If he's up to it maybe we
can do some sparring the next day. We'll see.

Entry #127
Light chest day on the powerlifting program, and added abdominals and calf exercises.

Weighted crunches: 5 sets; 25, 20, 15, 12, 12 reps (2 25 lb plates on chest)

Reverse crunches: 4 sets; 12 reps

Standing calf raises: 5 sets; 15, 12, 10, 10, 10 reps (150 lbs, 200 lbs warm-up sets, 300 lbs last three sets)

Seated calf raises: 4 sets; 15, 15, 12, 12 reps (185 lbs)

Lying calf raises: 3 sets; 15 reps (400 lbs)

At home: drills on the heavy bag. Several rounds of both punching
and kicking. Went bare-knuckle. Working on snapping my kicks harder. I
noticed while watching K-1 on ESPN, Michael McDonald never lost power
in his kicks, while his opponents legs looked slow compared to his
powerful and lightning fast snaps. Impressive. Flexibility stretches
and push-ups afterwards. Managed 40 in one set. Very low but compared
to my standards for endurance, it's an improvement considering my
muscles are fatigued from bench pressing.

Watched Dragonball Z afterwards. Seriously. It counts.

Entry #126
Deadlift day: 235 lbs at 7 reps. Dead-lifts are kinda weird. For me
they hurt at first and I'm thinking "ARGHHHHH this hurts, am I gonna be
able to do this 7 times?" But that first rep is the hardest. Afterwards
they all feel the same. So I thought it might be too much at first, but
at the end I wasn't having much trouble. I think I can go much more
than 235 lbs for 7 reps.

Currently not doing the pull-ups/chin-ups portion of my endurance
training. Need to get access to a bar. Maybe I can install one in my
garage this weekend. At least that's an area I'm fairly strong in,
compared to my push-ups.

Worked on conditioning my shins on the bag with low-kicking drills.
This will definitely help next sparring session with George, my mortal
enemy.

Entry #125
Weighed in at 177 lbs today. It seems that I'm having difficulty
getting past 180. I'm getting a lot stronger, however, and that's what
really matters to me.

Bench pressed 215 lbs today. 3 reps. I can do 235 lbs for
1 rep so it would seem I should be able to do more than just 3 with 215
lbs. Perhaps endurance work with push-ups can help in this area.

Entry #124
Squat day. Turns out I counted wrong last time: my squats were at 245
lbs, not 255. So today I raised the weight to 255 lbs. Didn't feel any
different.

Squats: 5 sets; 12, 10, 5, 5, 5 reps (135 lbs for warm-up sets, 255 lbs for last three sets)

Leg press: 4 sets; 10, 8, 8, 8 reps (300 lbs warm-up, 600 lbs last three sets)

Horizontal wide-stance leg press (smith machine was taken, couldn't
do squats on it): 2 sets; 8 reps (400 lbs -- the highest the machine
could go)

Leg extensions: 4 sets; 8 reps (180 lbs)

Leg curls: 4 sets; 8 reps (120 lbs)

In between sets I used the speed-bag. I find it helps loosens up
muscles and helps with lactic acid build-up. Hmm, that was
my excuse for practicing nunchaku, too. Hey, it's a valid
reason. I'm getting much much faster with the speed bag also,
for what it's worth (nothing). Seriously, a few weeks ago I couldn't do
more than a few hits with it; now I'm pounding it like Rocky. No wonder
Em called it "boxing mastUrbation" [edited].Ended with a short speed bag session.

Home: flexibility stretches, light kicking drills, and three rounds of shadow boxing.

Entry #123
Light chest day, but also added calves and abs at the end.

Standing calf-raises: 260 lbs, 10 reps 6 sets

Seated calf-raises: 155 lbs, 15 reps 4 sets

Leg press calf raises: 400 lbs, 15 reps 4 sets

Weighted crunches: two 25 lb plates on chest, 20 reps 5 sets

Weighted sit-ups: 25 lb plate, 25 reps, 2 sets (abs were fatigued and started using my back too much -- cut it short)

Reverse crunches: 12 reps, 4 sets

Might get to go sparring with George tomorrow, when he gets home
from camp. Will definitely check out Cung Le's school;
there's more time on the weekend.

Deadlift day: dead-lifts at 225 lbs for 8 reps. Should have done more
weight. First time going that high so next time it'll be much
higher. Also tried out a wider grip
on pulldowns. Flexibility stretches at home.

Entry #121
Full body soreness. My legs got worse and worse, too. Push-ups
definitely suffered; I opted for 20 one-handed push-ups on each arm
instead. They're easier on my pecs and harder on my shoulders
(chest is completely blasted). Attempted to do boxing drills on the
heavy bag but my form was lagging because of early muscle
fatigue. I went bare-knuckle for conditioning my fists so at least
I got something out of it. Instead of combinations I worked on power
shots. Had to make do with what I was capable of doing.

Rene actually suggested I should visit a massage therapist once
a week for muscle soreness. But I'm immature and told him "NO WAY."

Looks like I have to wait a day longer to check out Cung Le's school.

Entry #120
Bench day: Benched 205 for 4 reps. Ryan messed up my powerlifting
program last time and had me bench 225 for 2 reps. It's all mixed up
now. Trying to get everything back on track, and next time Ryan is my
spotter I'll punch him in the face.

Checking out Cung Le's place tomorrow.

Entry #119
Calories today = 4,864
Current weight = 176 lbs

I need to eat more so I intake about 6,000 a day. Glad I calculated this tonight.

Today consisted of 8 rounds of boxing on the heavy bag.
Afterwards, 10 minutes of kicks on the same bag (would be nice if I had
a banana one for kicks). Stretching after squats did a lot
yesterday; last time I couldn't walk the next day, today I'm a little
sore but am able to run and kick fine. Working on conditioning my
shins. I've primarily been practicing side-kicks in the air, but I
should work on the bag more for kicking. Afterwards practiced
flexibility exercises and stretching.

Wednesday I'm going to check Cung Le's school in San Jose (http://www.cungle.com/cungle/class_descriptions.htm).
If that doesn't turn out good I'll go with Rey's Muay Thai
place. But I have to say it would be cool to train with the famous Cung
Le.

Entry #118
Squat day:

Squats -- 5 sets; 12, 10, 6, 5, 5 reps (135 lbs for warm-ups, 255 lbs on last three sets)

Leg press -- 4 sets; 10, 6, 8, 8 reps (225 lbs warm-up, 600 lbs last three sets)

Leg extension -- 4 sets; 8 reps (180 lbs)

Leg curls -- 4 sets; 8 reps (120 lbs)

Powerlifting protocol does not condone such isolation
exercises, yet I would like to train calves individually on a
seperate day, perhaps with abs. Should not conflict with the schedule.
Also adding endurance training on my off days with push-ups and
pull-ups, respectively (thanks for this, Jared). Including that with
martial arts training (muay thai, hopefully soon) and boxing
drills on the heavy bag, and there's my summer. And skating.

Water intake is at a good level. Drank half a gallon during the session.

On leg press I was disappointed with how I was only able to do 6
reps, and I thought about dropping the weight a little bit, since I had
just done squats. Instead I pointed my finger at the plates, told them
to "Go to Hell", and then did 8 reps. Terminated. But they'll be back.
Went on to the speed bag for cooling down at the end.

Light shadow boxing and flexibility stretches at home. My speed is picking up a little bit.

Entry #117
Primarily went back to practicing high kicks today. There was no
sparring match. Once I get in a class that should change. Reconsidering
my summer plans. I don't think I'll wait until I move; I'm going to
check out the muay thai place near here for this summer. In the
meantime, all I have is the gym and my punching bag. Hmm. Not as bad as
I thought, actually.

I'm thinking about taking creatine. Rene actually said it didn't do
much for him. Maybe I should see how far I can go without it. I'm
making great gains in lifting as it is.

Entry #116
Heavy bag work today. Then endurance training with push-ups. As I gain
muscle-weight it's getting harder and harder to do push-ups.
Sunday is powerlifting again. So no more going barefeet. Also, possible
sparring session with George tomorrow (when he gets home from camp -
he's a counselor). THIS time I'll kill him for good.

Entry #115
Los Angeles was productive at least. The weightroom left me with little
variety, however, so I just did bodybuilding exercises. There were no
barbells and the heaviest dumbbells were 50 lbs. I taped two dumbbells
together for each hand for compensation. Also, I went barefoot, like
Arnold.

I think I drove my relatives insane with my obsession for food, but
I was able to pick up appropriate meals at a supermarket near the
hotel. To my luck, there was also a Vitamin Shoppe near it, and I
picked up some protein shakes. I also had my aunt and uncle read my
Arnold magazine. They don't speak english so they couldn't read the
articles, but I could tell they were motivated enough to take up
lifting. I think. Off-topic: I went to Vans skatepark on Tuesday over
there and it was great.

Today I had no method of transportation to the gym; had to make do
with what I had in the backyard, and do a bodybuilding workout for
traps and biceps.

Entry #114
Internet has been down for the last few days.

Leaving for Los Angeles today. I'll be back Wednesday. The hotel has a weightroom so don't think I'm taking it easy.

George is leaving for camp the same day. He's pretty lucky because
he's a counselor. When we come back, we'll see who got stronger.

"I'll be back."

Entry #113
Benched 225 lbs today. At lift-off I thought "Hmm this isn't that
heavy". I lower it until about an inch above my pecs and bring it
back up. I'm thinking I'll get at least 4 reps by myself. Then my
spotter, Ryan, roars "ALL THE FUCKING WAY DOWN!" Then he smacks it onto
my chest and I gasp for air. Bastard. I manage two reps with it
touching my chest everytime.

This means war.

Just did shadow boxing afterwards. Worked on some flexibility
stretches for kicks, also. My meal plan has been consistent the last
few weeks. Expect to gain a lot of muscle weight soon.

Haha I bench the same weight as Arnold.

Entry #111
Glad that summer is here so I can train by myself without distractions.

I guess I'll allow one cheat day on my training log for today. Went
to a party with George. I ate like a savage. Good bulking meals. Meat
meat and meat. And then for dessert, meat. George and I were talking
about something cool, probably Warhammer or Arnold Schwarzenegger or
something, when "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" comes on the speakers.
George smacks his forehead and says "Argh I hate this."
J.C.: "What, girls just wanna have fun, George."
George: "Well we should convert girls to usable fuel, then."
J.C.: "Why don't you like girls...you two need to get laid."
George: "No."
J.C.: "Well, you can kick ass and get laid at the same time, you know."
Me: "Hey, yeah. Except for the getting laid part."
George:
"Yeah, I'm fine with kicking ass, of course. That sounds like a good
idea right now." Then he grabs my throat and I punch him back in the
chest.

Then we go on the driveway and spar. It was dark so I don't know
what happened. I believe it ended in a draw. I mostly just did boxing.
I was full of meat and didn't have the patience to attempt sidekicks.

He dropped me off and I told I'll see him in Hell. He said he'll be there first. But we'll see.

Listen, next week is summer vacation. Nothing but training, nothing
but getting stronger. So this was off-topic. But don't think I'm gonna
go soft on you guys.

Trained with George at Vasona Park. Utilized kicks exclusively in three
sparring sessions. George is much better in this area than me.
Afterwards practiced alternating sidekicks all the way across the park.
Really tired me out.

Entry #109
Legs are a little better. Still having trouble with stairs. Chest and
tris are sore now from yesterday as well. Will just be doing some
stretching and then nunchaku practice for rehabilitation today, and
then go back tomorrow. I seriously can't even shadow box productively
tonight.

Entry #108
Legs have been sore since Sunday. Having trouble walking, and when I
try a staircase I resemble a cancerous old man. George's first comment
to me this morning at school: "God dammit, you and your squat workouts,
I couldn't go to Tae Kwon Do yesterday because I'm so sore." You're
welcome, George.

I did chest and tris today. I managed 195 pounds with 8 reps pretty
easily on flat bench press. Giant Ryan was spotting me again. He
commented that I'm lifting stronger than last time. Well, he roared it
in my face.

Bench press: 195 pounds, 8, 8, 6, 5, 5 reps

Dumbbell flys: 40 pound dumbbells, 4 sets 8 reps

Incline bench press: 135 pounds,  3 sets 5 reps (Was so tired I
was only able to do 5 reps on what I usually use for warm-up)

Tricep pushdowns: 70 pounds, 4 sets 8 reps

Dips: 3 sets 6 reps

Overhead dumbbell extension: 55 pound dumbbell, 3 sets 8 reps

Legs are dead today. Took it easy. Did some shadow boxing in my room. I couldn't help myself.

I'll hit the weightroom again tomorrow. Until then, stay tough.

Oh, today was George's 18th birthday. We did some sparring but it
was too casual to list as a real fight. Well here you go George, happy
birthday:

I hope you like bullets.

Entry #106
George and I lifted together today, for the first time. According to
him J.C. never makes him train legs, and today just happened to be leg
day on my program, so I decided to introduce George the torture of leg
day.

Squats: 255 pounds, 6 reps

Leg press: 700 pounds, 6-8 reps

Leg extensions: 180 pounds, 6-8 reps

Leg curls: 120 pounds, 8 reps

Calf raises: 270 pounds, 12 reps

Seated calf raises: 205 pounds, 12 reps

I raised the weights on squats, and next time I think I'll go for
265. Having a spotter helped a lot. George didn't go as high as I did,
but that was his first time on squats and I commend him. Had the gym to
ourselves so we didn't hesitate to make some noise. George was having
trouble for his last rep on the leg press machine and he was leaning
forward, so I grabbed his shoulders and slammed him back into the seat,
and called him a wimp. He yelled and then completed it perfectly. The
only way to spot someone, I say.

"Civilize the mind, make savage the body."

Entry #105
At the beach George and I fought a war. As I am writing this I'm
covered in cuts and red marks, along with disjointed fingers and an
injured ankle.

Hmm, let me get some stuff out of the way first. The arcade was
awesome. We played Samurai Shodown (the best), Terminator 2, Metal
Slug 3, Virtua Fighter 4, and some awesome war game where you shoot
things. Then we went on this Haunted House walkthrough. I was hoping
for once I would get scared or something, just to see what it's like,
but no. We walked through a graveyard and all of a sudden a rubber
zombie pops out in front of us and starts screaming. George punched it
in the face. It probably died. The end.

Essentially senior beach day was all-day training for us. We started
out in the morning with a sprint to a group of rocky outcrops over in
the west. I won by a significant margin. After that we jogged over to
the pier and back. Everyone from our class was asking why we weren't
relaxing. A lot of them were smoking, too. This one guy, James, is
someone I thought of as a serious bodybuilder, but not only did he look
tiny, he was smoking with everyone.
George goes up to him: "James, what the hell is this."
Me: "James, if you drink and smoke you'll shrivel up and get weak."
James hangs his head down in shame: "Well, uhhh just something to do, ahh, for fun..."
George: "Well
James, we are disappointed in you guys. And pull up your pants for
God's sake or we'll have to send you home. Young delinquents."

Harsh, but they'll all thank us later.

We fought by a group of cliffs shrouded in fog. Was pretty
cool. Regrettably I am unable to give detailed reports of what
happened because I honestly remember nothing about it. I got kicked in
the head so that might be a contributing factor. It started out
with us on opposite sides of the beach and then charging towards one
another. That was awesome. We always do full-contact bare-knuckle, but
I do know that those were the hardest hits I've ever thrown. Actually
utilized combos, as well. One highlight I can remember was George
backfisting me and I countered it with hook after hook in his
side. I could feel his body crumple and he was yelling. His stand-out
part was when he side-kicked me directly in the head and I stumbled
forward. Fought pretty dizzy the rest of the round. I'm fighting too
much like a brute, taking shots and not bothering to dodge while
powering forward. Maybe it works, but there's probably a better way.
I've really developed a lot more power, maybe due to switching from
bodybuilding to powerlifting?

The first two rounds ended in a tie but the in the third
George hurt his shin on my elbow and he had to stop because he couldn't
stand properly. We ended there. We walked back to where our class was
hanging out, and this girl says "George, were you fighting Hormuz?" She was sunbathing. George replies "Yeah, what are you doing? Lying down and being lazy?" Everyone knows not to get offended at what George says, of course, because that's just how he is, and she laughs.
George: "Let's go practice some kicks, Taylor, you need to do something so you don't get fat."
Her: "Oh my gosh you called me fat?!"
George: "I said you'll get fat if you just lie around doing that all day."
When she gets up George tells her to kick as high as she can, and she goes "HAH you just want to see my underwear!!!"
George: "....... uh Taylor, shut up, now face to the side and kick. Just do it waist-high, if you want." She can't stop giggling so George goes "Okay we're done, you're a terrible student." She just giggles harder and we run away.

We had a one armed push-up contest afterwards but my thumb was
feeling demented after fighting and my knuckles were bloody. I could
only manage 15. George got 18.

Forgot to bring a camera to take pictures. But trust me, it ruled.

Entry #104
Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger was in town a few days ago, I wanted
to go meet him. I wanted to arm wrestle him. Or at least compare our
arms. Who would you guys think would have more muscle? On Friday I'll
hit the weights again.

Tomorrow is beach day and George and I plan to fight on the cliffs. Loser falls off and dies.

Entry #103
At school, George kicked a guy in the chest and sent him to the ground.
The guy was mocking him about being a "tough guy" or something like
that. I believe his exact words were "Ohhh you think you're so tough,
George? Some big tough guy? Oooooh what a macho-man nyeeeehhh", and
then George kicked him. The vice principal took him in his office and
said "So the other guy told me what you did to him, now let's hear YOUR
side of the story."
And George goes "Uh I kicked him in the chest."
Then
the vice-principal laughed and told George his punishment is hard
labour of some sort. To which George replied "Whoa, cool." He invited
me to go, too. Should be fun.

Thursday is Senior Beach Day at school. We have to go to Santa Cruz
and hang out at the beach all day. George and I are going to take this
opportunity to train. Definitely expect a fight then.

Stay strong like Rambo

Entry #102
This is a pointless post. In fact, as I write this I am going insane.
I've been doing homework all day. I'm never going to take a day off
training ever ever ever again. I have so much energy right now I'm
going to break Jared's record of 400 push-ups in a few minutes. I've
just been sitting here doing a comic for homework. It's pretty cool.
Maybe I'll scan it. It's about a guy who goes to work but his office
gets attacked by zombies so he rips off his suit and fights the zombies
with heavy artillery. That includes his fists. One day that will be me.
I'm looking at my arm in the mirror and the entire thing is covered
with huge veins. They're like a roadmap on my arm. I'm going to bench
300 tomorrow, too. BANG BANG BANG

Entry #101
Fight today at school. Was walking to my locker during lunch when all
of a sudden George comes out of nowhere and jump kicks me in the back.
I stumble forward and my backpack was flattened from the impact. This
can only mean war. I rush forward and smash my fist into his solar
plexus. We trade punch combinations and then he side-kicks me in the
chest and we both fall back. Then we go out to lunch.

In PE we were supposed to go swimming but I just sat with Rene on
the bleachers by the pool and talked about training. It turns out that
at the beginning of the school year he only weighed 150 pounds. Now
he's 195. Is he on steroids or something? Wow. We were bored so we
measured our arms and my biceps are 15 inches in diamater. His are
16. This could be a good way to record progress.

I went skateboarding a little after school and then practiced on the
heavy bag. Doing endurance training along with strength program. Did 40
consecutive push-ups. By the end of summer I must reach at least 80.

Not a bad Friday.

Entry #100
Today at school George and I went to the front lawn to check out what
the Marines had set up. There was a giant helium-filled training course
along with a pull-up bar. Everyone was giggling and laughing and
jumping around on the training course, so we immediately went to the
bar. But we couldn't decide who should go first. We settled on a
punching contest: who ever punches the other in the stomach first wins.
We grabbed a random kid to be the judge, and at the count of five
we smashed our fists into each other. I won. George wanted two out of
three so we tried again and I won a second time. Thing is, we hadn't
settled on what that meant. So George just decided to go first. He got
to 14. When it was my turn the Marine told me if I get
to 20 he'll give me a shirt. I tried after and got to
15, but on one I didn't go down all the way so it got counted as 14. I
was kind of disappointed; I asked how many he could do and he said 20.
I held my fist at the Marine and told him I will come back next time
and destroy him in this. Then he shook my hand. I regret not taking any
pictures of this. Wasn't thinking of it at the time. But it was
awesome. Should have them over everyday.

One day I will be the strongest in the world.

Entry #99
Yesterday was a well-spent recuperation day. Today was supposed to be
bench day but I have to post-pone it until tomorrow; it's for a good
cause, though. Taking a driving test. I've never needed to drive
anywhere because this town is so small, I just skateboard everywhere.
But now I can go to the gym and not burn any calories when I'm trying
to bulk. Also, GNC is kind of far so I need a car to pick up N-LARGE
every week. Yes, those are the only reasons I'm getting a license. Heh
not really. But I will lift extra heavy tomorrow. Will try
225 pounds on the bench-press.

George let me drive his car on Saturday. This is us going to the store to pick up some groceries.

Entry #98
Worked with heavier weights today. Squats = 225 pounds. Leg press = 600
pounds. I have to admit I made a lot of noise today. It was a Sunday
night and there wasn't anyone there, anyways. Leg day is the most
painful, I think; I couldn't help but shout a little. It helped me get
the weight up, though. I'm getting closer and closer to Fred "Dr.
Squat" Hatfield and his 1,014 pound squat. Just a matter of time. In
between sets I used the speedbag.

Yesterday I hung out with George but we didn't fight. We did see
Star Wars Ep 3 and after we practiced pull-ups for the pull-up
competition at school next week. Each got to 15. Will practice up more.
It probably isn't a good idea to enter a pull-up contest in the middle
of gaining weight but oh well. Just for fun.

Yesterday was intense. Ryan spotted me. Can easily do 185
pounds at 8-10 reps now, on bench press. Gonna try 205
pounds next time. I was talking to Rene and he benches 295 for 5
reps. Argh I'll get that guy. Competition is good, though.

Haven't posted pics in a while. My progress in mid-bulking phase:

Entry #95
Hah this was funny.

Rene: When you and George fight, do you do headshots?
Me: If we have gloves at the time, yeah.
Rene: What if I fought you with no gloves?
Me: That'd be awesome.
Rene: You'd really do it? What if I had you on the ground and I was beating your face?
Me: Then I'd get my face beat, haha.
Rene:
But like, in sports I get crazy and I keep going. Like in football I go
"RAAAAARGHH YEAH" in the guy's face after tackle. And what if I kept
pounding and pounding your face?
Me: I'd tell you to punch harder, wimp.
Rene: Haha.

That would be cool to spar Rene. I think he's more a straight
bodybuilder, though, not a fighter. As for today, just did rounds of
shadow boxing. Gonna hit the chest exercises tomorrow at the gym.

Entry #94
Productive gym day. Started the powerlifting program over, so I did
squat day today. 205 pounds, 8 reps. Hope to raise that dramatically in
the next few weeks. Also raised the weight on leg press to 550 pounds,
but I feel I can go higher next time.

George came over and we went to the high school football field to
practice pull-ups for the contest. We each can do 15 with proper form,
more if we cheat on the remaining reps and use some body motion. Then
we had a climbing race by going up climbing up the back of
the bleachers. He won but I was wearing skate shoes and I kept
slipping. Afterwards we thought how cool it would be to climb the
stadium light and do pull-ups on the very top. The fear of death would
motivate you to keep going. Sounds like a plan.

Entry #93
George was telling me about a pull-up contest. Marines are coming to
the high-school to host it. I think I'll work for it if I can find
a good schedule to fit in endurance training. Anyways, we watched Clint
Eastwood movies until he had to leave for prom. I called him a wimp and
he shook his fist at me. That's the confirmation for a fight sometime
soon, so looking forward to that. Later I did boxing practice on the
bag for 10 rounds. Definitely need a heavier bag. Mine was flopping all
over the place. It's harder than most others I've tried before, though,
so my knuckles are beat again. Developing a solid hook, which I've
never really practiced before. Afterwards I worked on side-kicks. Total
of training was about 5 hours. Was a very good night, I'd say.
Entry #92
Woke up and realized my back pain was completely gone. Feels great.
Yesterday I was practically a cripple, now I'm better than ever. Been
eating well, especially at breakfast. Just had breakfast along with 4
scoops of N-Large, 1 spoon of flax oil, and a multi-vitamin pill.
Oh, I watched PUNISHER while I was eating, too. Gonna head over to
George's, but I don't think he wants to spar since he has to leave
for prom in a few hours. Wimp. Will update after training, today.

Entry #91
Was suffering minor back-pains from deadlift day, and just when I
figured I was over it, it came back today. In PE we went swimming, and
I was flipping off the high dive when I wrenched my back in the air.
Could barely move after school, so I didn't go lifting. I tried the
punching bag but the impact caused excruciating pain in my trap
muscles, and I didn't want them to explode or anything. Just gonna
do shadow boxing and work on speed. Restarting the powerlifting program
as of Sunday because last week was messed up.
Tomorrow is prom,
I'm gonna spend the day boxing. Might go to the park and practice
pull-ups on this tree I know. I love my life.

Entry #90
I had a dream that I was doing incline bench pressing. Rep after rep of
benching. That's it. Then I woke up. Good way to start the day. Didn't
do weights; was sore from the dream (just kidding on
that one). 8 rounds on the bag. Knuckles are in pain right
now. Cut open my thumb as well, and this was all with gloves. I think I
need a heavier bag, though. Current one is 70 pounds and it swings
around too much.

Random, other good dreams I've had:
> I was Rambo and was killing wave after wave of enemies, and I died at the end.
>
I was getting beat up by two of my classmates who are on the wrestling
team and football team, one was holding me and the other was
punching, but I was fighting back.
> Missile was heading for me and my death was inevitable, so I punched it.

Ah, that put me in a good mood.

Entry #89
Was looking at my program and I realized I did it wrong, I was supposed
to do chest day yesterday, not deadlifts. Tomorrow was supposed to be
deadlift day. Today I was sore all over, just practiced some rounds on
the bag. Felt like my trap muscles were ripping apart on every
punch. I called it a day after just a few rounds. Gonna rest up and hit
the weights tomorrow again.

Look at Ali, training in the water XD

Entry #88
Powerlifting is boring. Four minutes rest is too long. Compared to
bodybuilding, however, this is actually harder because the weight is so
much heavier. Before it was intense because the rest was only one
minute, but the weight was nothing, really. Interestingly enough,
the pain is different, too. Before it was sharp and more
concentrated. Now it's like a dull pain spread out in my
entire upper arm/back. But I actually like this better. Today was:

Deadlifts - 3 sets 8 reps
Barbell shrugs - 4 sets 10 reps
Bent over rows - 4 sets 10, 8, 6, 6 reps
Seated rows - 3 sets 8 reps
Pulldowns in front - 3 sets 8 reps
One arm dumbbell rows - 3 sets 8 reps

For some reason I've never seen anyone else in my gym do deadlifts.

Did a few rounds on the heavy bag. Combinations are getting more
fluid. I used to just swing single heavy punches. I'm gonna utilize
these next time I go against George.

Entry #87
First day of new program. I did:
Squats - 3 sets, 8 reps
Leg Press - 4 sets 10, 8, 6, 6 reps
Wide stance smith squat - 3 sets 6 reps
Leg extension - 3 sets 10 reps
Leg curl - 3 sets 10 reps

Took three to four minute rests in between sets, compared to
before when I only waited one minute. Consequently I was able
to keep my reps constant on the final sets due to
the longer rest. Still, it's not so different from my old bodybuilding
routine so far. At least for legs.

Boxing practice on the bag was only three rounds. Felt like my legs
were gonna collapse. I practiced strong hooks. In all my fights, be it
boxing or mixed martial arts, I've never attempted a solid hook. I
worked it into the final attack in some combinations.

My muscles around the groin area are kind of sore. I took a break from
kicking and just did boxing practice on the bag. Five rounds, three
minutes each, one minute rest in between. Getting much more proficient
at combinations. I also practiced on good, fast jabs. I was kinda
impressed by this Muhammad Ali fight they had on ESPN today, haha. Ali
versus Chuvero. He never seemed to suffer from fatigue, all the way up
to the 15th round. His punches never slowed down. His jabs looked like
they took no effort to move that fast.

I have my new powerlifting routine all set-up, and I'm gonna start tomorrow: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/david3.htm
Yes, it's on a bodybuilding site, but they have some good powerlifters on there too.

Also, to continue my bad habit of going off-topic: this is my favorite comic ever.

George came over, but there was no sparring match. I'll be sure to make
that the first thing we do next time. Wasn't in top shape today,
anyways. Yesterday during basketball, when I grabbed the rim I pulled a
muscle in my forearm as I was hanging on. Couldn't close my hand in all
the way to make a fist. It's better now, though.

Changing to a more strength-oriented lifting program starting Monday. Still constructing the schedule.

Cardio day, essentially. Played basketball four hours after
school. Managed to grab the rim three times. Afterwards we were fooling
around the courts and the kids asked me to teach them some boxing
stuff. Did a lot of exercises, actually. Also practiced kicks; I had
them sidekick me as hard as they could. Also did a goofy little
practice where one guy holds a marker, and pretends it's a knife, and
the other attempts to disarm him. If a mark is left on the arm, that
means they were stabbed, and they would be injured in a real situation,
so they lose. I managed to rush in and grab my opponent's arm,
twist it around, and begin the process of breaking it by the joint. The
verdict: I can't wait until I meet a knife-wielding thug on the
streets. Heh seriously, it was mostly just for fun, but I got some good
kicking practice in today through that. I managed to teach them some
discipline, too. The dance team was practicing next room in their
outfits, and all the guys would go by the door and watch through the
glass pane, and make whistling noises at them. I took this injured
kid's crutches, pointed it at them like a machine gun, and told them
"The Terminator doesn't look at girls. Neither should you." I
sure showed them.

Need to eat more. Been skipping meals all this week. I'm kind of a
perfectionist and I'm a lot more intent on getting all my meals in on
gym days; otherwise I tend to get lazy and skip some. It's like, either
go to the gym and eat a perfect 8 meals a day, or don't go to the gym
and slack off on eating. I need to stop that way of thinking.

May get to fight George tomorrow, depending on whether he's game or
not. We will see. Also, hopefully in summer without school there won't
be as many stories to tell so I won't go off-topic so much. But then
I'll probably be doing more stuff with George, and that'll make it
worse...
