Christ, everything felt heavy today and my right knee had spurts of minor pain if I'd do something like get up from sitting wrong. No pain on the heavy sets, though. Did what needed to be done and it didn't dawn on me that this was uncharted rep territory until I opened my training log.

Great work dude. I read an idea by Mike Tuchscherer recently that talked about how we tend to perform better on max effort work when we're beat up because we take the lift more seriously and do a better job bracing and cuing to be safer. When we feel good, we get too loose, but when we feel awful, things go well. I've had similar experiences as you.
ReplyDeleteThat makes a lot of sense. I can definitely say I brace my abs a lot more after being loose and hurting my back one time from repping only 240. The same is probably true when I'm dealing with little aches that I'd be pissed were they to sabotage my lift so mentally I'm all in.
